DV lottery which is also called as Green Card lottery is currently not accepting entries from applicants. Next visa lottery DV 2010 is expected to be announced in September 2008 by the State Department.The program is strictly limited to one application per person as primary applicant, if anyone has applied more than one entry all the entries will be rejected without any notice regardless of who submitted them.
The DV Lottery 2009 results winners were selected by the computer random draw and were announced between May 2008 to July 2008 by regular postal mail to them individually. Those who are not selected will not be notified. They can apply for the next draw.
Nearly 82,000 people in 175 nations received the winning notification along with further instruction and were asked to process it as soon as possible.
The United States H-1B program has proven incredibly popular again, reaching the Congressionally mandated cap of 65,000 visa applications by 08 April 2008. United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) also announced that they had received more than enough applications by 08 April to satisfy the 20,000 visas that are exempted from the cap for foreign graduates of US universities who hold at least a Master’s degree.
USCIS will perform an automated selection process on all applications received during the filing period (01 April through 07 April 2008) to determine who will get the visas once initial data entry for the applications is complete. Because of the high number of applications, USCIS has stated that it is unknown when this will take place.
